A superior, modern, purpose built Lodge in the heart of the alpine village with mostly share rooms and some twin rooms. Thredbo Alpine Village has become increasingly popular as a holiday destination at all times of the year for people who appreciate its special location and climate.

A chairlift operates year round from the village to give direct access to Australia's highest mountains. From the top of the lift an easy 6km walk takes you through grand scenery to the top of Mount Kosciusko, Australia's highest peak (2228m). Many other alpine walks are possible in the area including guided walks in holidays.

All the facilities you'd expect to find in a resort are available - a nine hole golf course, alpine 'bobsled' slide, tennis courts, trout fishing, mountain bikes or horseriding from nearby Jindabyne. Special events are held throughout the summer, including Music Festivals, Mountain Bike Championships and Alpine Wildflower Week. There is a full programme of activities over school holidays to keep all the family entertained.

Spring
October and November are peaceful months in the village as the pace of winter recedes with the snow. Cross country skiing and telemarking (back country skiing) on the Main Range should not be missed.

Summer
A perfect time for walking. Flowers abound in the mountains and the village gets into full swing. Explore the many attractions of Kosciusko National Park or participate in the guided walks and activities offered from the Thredbo Activities Desk.

Autumn
Bushwalking par excellence! Cool invigorating weather and the chance of snow. Easter is a mini carnival and lots of fun with 10 days of outdoor activities. Book early for school holidays.

Winter
Skiing! Booking is by ballot but don't let that scare you - most people can be accommodated. Contact YHA reservations in Sydney (Tel: 02 9261 1111) for ballot forms and closing dates. There is always plenty of accommodation early in the winter ski season and again for Spring skiing in September.

Thredbo is about 55Okm south west of Sydney, just north of the Victorian border and set in the rugged, beautiful Snowy Mountains of Kosciusko National Park.
