Blowing Around - Up & Down

The wind started up last night and by the time I reached the top of Sponars T-bar this morning with Peter it had hit 106kph.

As you might expect Kosi never opened and Cruiser shut soon after followed by Snowgums. There were moments of delicious boot deep dry wind blown powder with patches of marble and/or deep sastrugi between.

Strangely enough there was no queue on Antons or Sponars ;-)

There's a whole lot more being forecast. Depths vary from expert to expert but expect snow this weekend and again mid next week. We may see from 40cm to a metre by the end of next week - and about time too :-)

News from the snow - Snow Sports are inherently dangerous activities ...

Hip Check Creek almost claims another life:

It was the perfect storm for an avalanche. A big freeze across the entire mountain followed by a big dump of snow and then wind loading. Certain areas, within the resort, are roped off for good reasons.

Happy Birthday for yesterday, Christiana!
