If You Go Out On The Range Today...

Surprise! When I awoke early this morning and saw stars, it wasn't that I had fallen out of bed, it was because the sky had cleared. As the sun hit the upper slopes of Thredbo I could see that fresh snow was on the Bluff and beyond. Marion joined me in an escape from Merritts and High Noon and we went for a morning tour on the main range.

Wind-chill -8C in the breeze but we rugged up well and by the time we were half way up Signature Hill the extra layers were off. I had an interesting run down the North Face - the surface snow was soft and the base breakable. After I skinned back up the Back Door we headed further out to see how Kosi was looking. The cornice has started but it's early days. Apart from 2 others on snowshoes, walking along the totally snow covered Kosi walking track, there was no one else out there under the perfectly clear blue sky. Certainly beat in-resort skiing.

As I wrote on my 1001st tweet: "The weather charts are changing faster than Kylie Minogue can change costumes at a concert." Reading the charts today, I see good snowfalls coming this week but then again, Kylie might be back for an encore ;-)
