More Of The Same Spring

Sunshine, warm temps and light to medium breezes continue to dominate the week in the mountains. There has been the odd frost in the village but nothing amounting to a proper freeze up top.

The groomers have been working hard to keep most runs open. Despite web pages to the contrary, Sundance (aka Lover's Leap Bypass) is closed and I fear more will follow soon with the warm trend set to continue.

The upper slopes have a good cover of snow and no red dust. The main range is in excellent condition for this time of year. As of today you could still ski top-to-bottom on most runs but thin and narrowing patches are appearing, especially at the bottom of True Blue and World Cup.

The off piste does freeze up most nights but softens very quickly on the north facing slopes. I found the soft snow sticky at the beginning of the week but not so the last two days. Crowds began building a little today and I expect much bigger numbers over the next week due to school holidays and great spring snow conditions.

Congratulations to Jodie and Tony on their wedding held above Eagles Nest yesterday.

There's possibly still some snow to fall before the season ends, starting late Monday.

Speaking of 'ends', the season has been extended past the October long weekend to October 10th.
