Marching On

March can often be a continuation of summer with high temps and lots of flies. March 2009 has been more like later Autumn - a wonderful time in Thredbo. Temperatures dropped low enough (below zero) prior to the Country Music festival (2 weeks ago) that few flies have returned, even though we are now having mild temps and fine days. It has been a bit windy some nights but mostly the wind has dropped during daylight hours. There have been several early morning frosts and long sunny afternoons.

It has been dry - very dry but we did get a little shower for the downhill mountain bike races today. Apart from mountain biking, autumn is a great time to get out into the wilderness.

There's a stack of things to grump about but no room for all. Just let me say that each time I have driven through the NPWS toll gates on the Alpine Road this month, I have had to queue behind at least two other vehicles.

The promise of a Pass-holders Lane in return for the massive increase in the cost of passes, some years ago, continues to annoy. The lane has been built and the surface looks good but it remains CLOSED on a daily basis. I am told by NPWS that it has been open for some busy days. Obviously my $190 didn't get me a pass that entitles me to use the Pass-holders Lane on the days I want to use it. It's like building a hospital and not putting beds in it - oops - deja vu.

Do you think Fair Trading would have something to say about NPWS not providing the service I paid for?
