An Action Packed Weekend

Saturday morning arrived with a clear blue sky and a frost on the grass – perfect for one more ski. Six of us walked out to Signature Hill, planted the bottles in the snow and proceeded to enjoy some end of season turns. The snow was reasonably firm with a soft 1-2cms on top.

We enjoyed a picnic lunch to celebrate being there and a wish to be there again next year. As the clouds built up we left the slopes (possibly for the final time in 2007) for coffee at Eagles Next and then back to the village to watch the hundreds of motor cycles forming the grand parade into Thredbo Village as the culmination of the Snowy Ride charity event - to raise funds for research into finding a cure to children's cancer.

The day was well finished off with a concert performed in the village square by Kevin Borich and The Angles to a large and grateful crowd mostly clad in leather. The weather held out, to everyone’s pleasure and most of the bikers had left for home today before the clouds again built up this afternoon.

The Kosciuszko Express is now closed for maintenance until early December. Snow Gums double chair will open tomorrow but I understand that Black Sallees will not be open for the 4-week duration. The chance of me carrying skis from the top of Snow Gums out to the main range is extremely remote. I think the walking season will begin for me next weekend.

Good luck to Ray with his knee reconstruction at the end of the month and congratulations to Dave and Penny who are getting married the next day.

One final note: the last snow of the ski jump under Merritts chair has finally melted.
