And A Great Start To Spring

As expected there was a queue waiting for Kosi Express yesterday morning. Fresh snow and a clear blue sky, cool air and no crowds – what more could you ask for? The queue was not a long one. There were not a lot of people around.

The snow had been wind packed from the previous day’s snowfall. In the lee of the wind it was deeper and a tad heavy/slabby. This made it tricky for the unwary or unskilled but great for big fast turns.

All lifts were running (except Ramshead of course) and you could access anywhere. Lower sections of the mountain like Lover’s Leap and below mid station on Little Beauty and True Blue still have ‘closed’ signs but tracks were soon seen into these areas. The bottom of World Cup to Tower 10 is not closed. The cover is thin but Tower 10 corner could be negotiated safely (hang left).

The groomers were superb with that ‘packed powder’ groomed feeling that you find in Nth America.

Last night cloud descended over the mountain and then this morning it began to snow. It is now setting up a cover in the village with big flakes falling vertically in the still air. This wasn’t forecast and is a very pleasant lead into the weekend. It is still snowing!
