Soggy End

With a mix of rain and sunny weather this last week the skiing and boarding has been interesting to say the least. Only a touch of firm snow could be found very early on one morning whilst the rest of the time it has been soft. The stickiness seemed to disappear as the week progressed, so did the base.

On Tuesday I thought I had taken my last run down High Noon but snow harvesting and hard work by the groomers rebuilt it. Using the terrain park and whatever other spare snow reserves, High Noon was 'top to bottom' on Wednesday and again on Thursday. I do think Thursday was my last run down High Noon – but then miracles do happen.

The Supertrail was still in good condition at the bottom yesterday. The area around BunnyWalk is very slushy brown and best done in a straight line. Merritts has been well groomed with Walkabout is good condition whilst the rest of the runs are finished. Central Spur still has a deep cover overall except for the very bottom around the T-bar entrances.

The Basin is good but Karels was having some trouble with a lake forming beside the flat section on the T-bar track.

It has been raining lightly all day but a last minute mobile phone report from Wayne in the Basin says it is snowing and he is skiing boot deep untracked. I can’t tell, as there is a thick layer of cloud down to Kareela level.

The forecasts are very mixed as to what will occur over the weekend. Anything from fine to gale force winds, rain and snow. Stay tuned next week to find out what really happens.
